Reboarder-car seat

A reboarder is usually the second car seat after the infant carrier. To guarantee the highest level of safety for your child, your child should be transported rear-facing in the car up to the age of four. A reboarder makes this possible. Often, base stations are used for baby car seats that are also suitable for the associated reboarder. Other reboarders come with their own base, which is sometimes even permanently mounted on the reboarder.

What should I look for when buying a reboarder?

Base

If the base is not permanently attached to the reboarder, you can use one base per car, even if you have several cars, and simply use the reboarder in the other car as needed. If the base is firmly connected, the car seat is more difficult to transport. In this case, it is most practical to install the seat permanently in one car.

Modular system

Before buying, make sure that the base of your reboarder is part of a modular system. This allows you to use several car seats with one base. For example, if you have bought a base for your infant carrier, it makes sense to also buy the matching reboarder. This way you don't have to buy a second base and can save a lot of money.

Seating positions

Even though the rear-facing driving position is the safest option for children up to four years of age, parents would like to let their child drive forward earlier. Some reboarders can therefore be installed forward-facing when the child reaches a certain height. Many reboarders also allow different tilt angles for maximum comfort.

Space in the car

Reboarders are larger than infant carriers. Especially if you have to transport several car seats in the car, it is important to check if there is enough space for your reboarder before buying. Furthermore, you can check whether the reboarder allows enough legroom and the headrest is sufficiently height-adjustable.
